My Homeless Blog

I must emphasize this point of view. When you see a homeless person understand that you see God. It is God working in and through this homeless person for your understanding concerning God. Anyone who would care to comment on this please do so.

When I see a homeless person I see a human being. When I was a child I was taught that the beggar in the street could be Jesus in disguise, and truly believed this almighty, invisible power could take human form to test us. Had so many panhandler's panhandling me in the course of a week I was truly tested! So I budgeted some money every week, first come first served and even gave sometimes, unasked, simply because it was so cold and felt so lucky to be indoors, it made their day, which made me feel good. Of course being homeless, has taught me there is no god.

Is getting a college degree really the answer for homelessness? And if God is working through a homeless person, perhaps telling other about the experience of homeless may be some type of spiritual redemption. I’ve just finished reading about one homeless man’s life in his book called “Guardian Angels Along My Homeless Path,” where he actually tells about his journey across America and actually achieving an education. He became stuck in his homeless plight because he never had any opportunities and kept returning to drugs and alcohol because of his homelessness. Eventually, he graduated, but due to his age and no proof of his existence in society, he is probably unable to get an apartment because of no credit history and probably won’t get a job because of being arrested so many times for vagrancy. The situation appears daunting.
